I am always in a quest for self-improvement. It is more or less my raison d’être. It’s right there in my working Single Motiviating Purpose.
Against the general story-telling advice, let me start with the punch time. I have a conditional contract to donate to Donald Trump. Have I lost my mind? Please read on to find out.
So, this contract is right here on a website called StickK. So, let’s stat with something about this website.
StickK is a website which allows you to put real money as for the stake for not meeting a goal. Basically, you are asked to put down your credit card details for a contract. In this contract, you define the amount of money at stake and you choose a referee. At the end of the contract length that you define, if you fail to achieve your goal, the amount would be transferred to a receicipient, this can be any individual or a charity or anti-charity. An anti-charity is an organsation with an aim that you don’t agree with. It’s free and is available as a website as well as a mobie app on iOS or Android.
I made this commitment on the 5 October, one day after the day that I found out that my current corporate gig was ending soon due to a budget cut. I suppose the disappointment from that was driving me to better myself.
So far I have completed two PluralSight courses and I am going through a third one. Setting up Android Studio was very painful and I ended up buying a new laptop to make it less painful. I now have 14 days left to develop something to push it to the Play Store!
I genuinely hate Donald Trump and the idea of me donating to him disgusts me enough to nudge me into action. I am not sure how effective this is long term. But we shall see 🙂
I am also experimenting a few other goals at the same time but this Android one is my current focus.
I will report on my progress along the way.
